    250 Rebuild Empty 250 Rebuild

Post by ndjarrett Mon Jun 24, 2013 11:21 am

I got the bottom half of my other 250 back from the machine shop.  I my quest to find documentation on how to properly put it all back together (all I find is those power books)...I have come across a coupla sights that make mention of a timing cover centering tool.  Any idea what this is & where I can find one?  Or, how do I cobble up a make-shift one?  Or, lol, is it even really needed?

It only goes on one way,,,,,,,you can put the seal in, put sealer on the gasket, put it loosely on,,,,,put the oil pan on,,,,pound the balancer on and then tighten everything up,,,,,but I doubt that the whole thing moves a thousandth  of an inch,,,,,,I don't worry about it,,,,,,,,

,,,so do you got a good harmonic balancer that does not have a groove cut into it from the timing cover seal?

Every Chevrolet engine has that groove cut into it,,,,,,so they make a repair sleeve to pound over the groove and make it pretty again.......
