Going to look at a 8 Door 1964 Econoline today. My current 64 is still not running, Motor needs pulled and might as well rebuild it. I got hosed on the 200ci motor I bought. Supposed to have been rebuilt, my ass. No oil pressure still. Oil galley plug where it belongs. Has to be Crankshaft bearings.

Any how Im hoping this 8 door is in good shape body wise and has a motor ready to go. The guy I talked to doesnt know anything about them. Told me it was his dads, but couldnt give my any details. We shall see.. If anything its always fun to look at another van.

When people tell me its "REBUILT" it only means to me that they bought a can of rattle paint and some freeze plugs. The BEST indicator for a "REBUILT" motor at the very least is when you see the freeze plugs with the melt plugs in them, that at least tells you that a re builder has rebuilt the motor at some point, it does not tell you how well or how thorough the build was. They put those type freeze plugs in the motor to protect them selves from some one over heating the motor and claiming a guarantee.
Anyways try to purchase it not depending on a good motor, as they are 50 years old and who knows what, if you get lucky and find someone who has dropped a late model 200 in it the odds are in your favor. On the 4spd,,, that transmission is very weak and the rear end gearing is usually high as that combo is designed for short hauls to the local lumber yard and not on any freeways,,,LOL...The columns are nice to have for an overdrive though,,O..

passed on the van, motor was missing parts, therefore not running. Body was in decent shape, hard to tell if the was much rust do to the black primer paint job. on both side one panel door was replaced with a window door. He was asking to much $ for a non running van.
