econoline gas tank Empty econoline gas tank

Post by We Jam Econo Thu Apr 04, 2013 8:27 am

    Hey everyone,
Curious to know if the fuel tank on my 62 econoline falcon is unique to this model or is it the same on say a falcon or mustang? Looks like the previous owner patched over the drain plug...Are there larger tanks that fit well? Exploring the options. Thanks, Matt

Drain plug??? Curious to see what your tank looks like. Any chance you could post a couple of pics. I have never seen an econoline tank with a drain.

Mustang tanks fit, but you have to relocate the filler neck. (Radiator shop can do it) Several sizes are available. Larger tanks need longer straps.

Sorry, made an assumption that there was a plug. Could just be damage that was fixed sloppily. The upgrade to the 69 Mustang tank looks like a good way to go. Thanks for the links.

Some early Econoline tanks came with a drain plug. My 61 has one.

Yes mine came with a drain plug too. CraigK, what exactly is wrong with yours? Mine had been sitting out exposed to the elements for around 15 years. After getting the rust off the outside and covering it with truck bed liner, I used a KBS coating coating kit to fix the inside (along with a new sending unit from Dennis Carpenter) It's been doing me right for almost a year now.
