    Econoline Axle Empty Econoline Axle

Post by Guest Sun Mar 03, 2013 1:53 pm

    Hello to all,

My name is arnaldo I'm from houston texas and I have some questions about the econoline axle that i have.

The axle is going into a 1964 falcon. I have already cut and welded the axle together to fit my falcon but I am having some issues with a couple of things.

The first thing that I can not seem to fine are the square U bolts to hold the springs onto the axle... what size are they?.... where can i find them every place I have gone to do not have the bolt and can not get it for me.,,

The next thing I have questions about is how to get the inner bearings out of the hub. I cant find where the seal opens and come out from as my hubs are a bit rusted. If any one can help me out with these two things i would be very grateful.

Any 4-wheel drive shop can get or make the U-bolts for you.

Try having napa run these part numbers.
They look different than the originals but I am told the do work.
    Part # 7834 or Part # 472164

Any shop that sells 4-wheel drive truck parts should have a large selection of U-bolts, since 4-wheelers often change springs. They might even have the capacity to make them.

I had some custom made at a heavy equipment (bull dozers, front-end loader, etc.) repair shop.

Northern Tool sells lots of U-bolts since they sell trailer axles and other parts.

I have tried just about every shop but napa. I went yesterday to the Napa on Jones road in houston .. and wow I was just astonished by the incompetence ... I told them to look up the part numbers and also if they had any square bend u bolts and they that they had never seen a square bolt before.. needless to say i walked out.

There is a place here in Houston called Pruit Spring Shop phone number 713 222 8888 ... Andy from 4 wheel parts here in houston said he gets his sets of u bolts bent by them for about 60 bucks.

I will be going to them tomorrow to get my bolts made.

McVeigh's Truck Springs, they have it all, picked up the U-Bolts, spring bushing, shackle bushings and other hardware for my 61 Econoline, had it all instock. Very reasonable prices.
