Re: driversside door locks ?
Is there a hole for a lock under the door handle? If not, look inside the door to see if it wasn't welded over to fill the hole. Unfortunately I have seen this happen, when people can't find parts. But I think all front doors had locks...I think???

Re: driversside door locks ?
61's and maybe 62's didn't have driver's side outside locks. 61 front doors also were different on the inside around the window riser handle.Older Fords, 20's, 30's and 40's didn't have then either.

Re: driversside door locks ?
Cutting the hole shouldn't be a problem but the inside will still be different. The 61 door has an indentation around the window riser handle hole and the other years are raised out.

Re: driversside door locks ?
What was the rationale for no lock on driver side door?
Old timers I talked to at a local car show seemed to think that these utility trucks/vans, the worker would exit the passenger side to avoid getting clipped by passing vehicles.
Any other theories out there?
Andy

Re: driversside door locks ?
the purpose for the "no" lock is a DOT safety reason, or at least that is the story I was told. with no key lock on the drivers door, when parking on the street, you must lock the drivers door and slide across the dog house to exit through the passenger side door to the sidewalk. then you could stand there and lock your passenger side door with no danger of being hit by oncoming traffic. This is the story I was told and it made the most sense to me rather than they just forgot to install one... take it for what it is worth..
