    66 G-10 Sport Van Empty 66 G-10 Sport Van

Post by Guest Sat Feb 09, 2013 11:23 am

I have just made an agreement to purchase, from the original owner, a 66 G-10 Sport Van. I've known about it for years, but he was not willing to sell until just very recently. He had hoped that his grandson would do something with it, but he was not interested in an "old hippy van!" His loss, my gain!

It's red, with white paint frameing the side glass, 6-cylinder with automatic. For the sum of only $600. It's very solid to be it's age, just a small rust hole under the drivers left foot. Unfortunately, some of the glass isn't as solid. One is shattered, the tringular glass just behind the driver is missing and assumed broken, and the windshield has a BB shot in it.
I will be going to pick up my prize in two weeks, and will probably be posting pictures shortly thereafter.

At present, I'm the owner of 3 Corvairs. A 65 Monza Coupe, 66 Corsa Coupe, and a 62 Greenbrier Van. Parts for these vehicles I can get all day long from various parts vendors, and Ebay, But this G-10 will be a whole different slice of pie for me. If any other members can point me in the right direction of have parts they are willing to sell, let me know! THANKS!!

My buddy Rob is a glass guy, and also owns a 1st gen sport van. I know he has at least one spare of that little triangle glass. Email me kookykrispy@yahoo.com and I'll get you the details.

Hi Kelly, welcome aboard! The number of Sportvan owners just keeps growing. Is yours a Custom or Deluxe, by any chance? If it's a Deluxe, with the bright trim just under the windows, that's a pretty rare vehicle. I say "rare" because they didn't make many, but they do turn up, I think because people hung onto them more than the regular panel vans.

You'll find more than a few parts in common with your Corvairs! I just discovered a few more, listed in Clark's Corvair Parts catalog, like the license plate light and front door stops.

Can't wait to see the photos!

Nice score! Cant wait to see pictures.

My wife and I are also doing a 66 Sport Van. We are located not to far west of you near Gadsden/Guntersville AL. There is also a guy with a 65 Panel near Birmingham that I have done some work on with him.

Glass should be rather easy. I had rust like you mentioned but on the opposite side and went up about 3 inches on the wheel well. Nothing my plasma, a piece of 14 gauge and my MIG couldnt fix.

If you are into Corvairs, I'm sure you recognize your dash cluster. A lot of parts on these vans are from Corvairs. Glove box door for instance.
