Just wondering what you guys think. Are Supervans(extended rear) like 4 door cars or long bed trucks, less desireable.. Or are they rare... Who likes the long ones over the shorties?

my 1st van was a '65 supervan. i loved it, well, after i got some TA radials and ET slot mags on it! before that, i was told it looked like a tadpole:) when i built the bed in the back i was able to make it alot bigger, and still keep it behind the rear side cargo door. i built a wall at the front of the bed, with a round hole. the wall was hollow with sliding doors that would slide inside the wall when i opened them. gave me alot of privacy, for my nocturnal activities:) sure wish i hadn't wrapped it around a tree Sad i had L 60's on the back with air shocks to give it some rake.

My first 2 vans were shorties. I was told that the long vans got better traction but I thought that was BS! Then I got one and I have been hooked ever since. The weight transfer is much, much, better. If you off road or drag race the long van is the only way to go. The extra space is good too.

I always thought they looked funny, but after joining the site here they've been growing on me. They look more balanced and more pleasing to the eye.

don’t like them, especially on the E vans. they just tacked on another section and kept the wheelbase short. and, I really don’t like the tail lights. I like the round tail lights of the short E vans and the A vans. if the G vans had round tail lights, I’d like them more too.

it’s ok if you don’t understand my round tail light obsession.

Yes they do look a little goofy, but I still like that altered/gasser look! Some people go to a lot of trouble to get that look. Also, it makes them easier to pull wheelies!

On my 2nd early and would never go short again. Im 5-11 tall and could not sleep sideways, put the bed length wise but then had no room for anything else. After that swore next one was a ext length that i could still have a twin bed and still have a interior. Now of course your some what out of the early look ie short wheel base-60's in the rear 70's in the front nose lower than the rear, thats why i went ext length and raised it up higher to buck the norm. when i go to car shows alot of people look at it and are confused of the ext length so i show them the ad form Ford Mo Co promoting the ext length. Look through the Gallery and mine is the White Ext length under Early 67. Once you go long you'll never go short again. Be a wolf not a sheep

The main thing is, do YOU like it. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks in the long run. We all appreciate and love all vans, just some more than others. But if it trips your trigger, then that's cool. afro

If I ever have the chance to put my super back on the road I will definatly be doing this to it.What do you think of Supervans L_98d410. I think thay would look more proportional, and more appealing. Lowered as well would look awsome.

You cant beat em for the extra space they provide. Easily haul longer stuff or more stuff in general. For sleeping, way more comfort with the longer floor space and like Bill said a lot better for building a bed in the back. I've always had both and like em both for different reasons. I do prefer the round tail lights but you can always modify those if it bugs you that much.

Back in the day when I hauled stuff in them, I liked the Supervans. You had to be carefully to not center the load too far back or the steering would get funny.

Now I have three nice 1967 Supervans and would gladly trade them for shorties. I'm thinking about shortening one myself, but I do prefer the round tail lights.

I think its agreed that the supervans are more practical and roomy, I just prefer the look of the shorty e vans.

Totally agree with this. The massive overhang in the back of the Fords make them look goofy and out of proportion. I think the others did it right by moving the axles back and adding the extended bodywork behind the front doors.

Greetings folks! Sorry if this is an old thread. The Supervans (extendo vans as we used to call 'em), look better the higher they are. I had my springs done and it really looked great. I guess what I'm saying is that a tall 4x4 conversion would make the Supervan's proportions spot on.
Nothin' cuter than a shortie though! Cheers!
