Labor Day Campout in PA

This will be our 13th Labor Day hosting Kampers near Knoebels at Indian Head Campground, Bloomsburg, PA. This soiree started as a VW Bus event (and us in our Corvair van) and morphed as I joined other groups and my interests expanded now including vintage trailer groups (think Scottys, tear drops, and Airstreams), but the vans are the mainstay. Anything vintage and cool is welcome.

The weekend is a laid back affair with a Saturday morning caravan from the campground to Knoebels Amusement Resort (free parking, free entertainment, free admission, pay by ticket as you ride), Sunday morning potluck brunch, and lots of vintage chatter. Campfires are a nightly event; pets are welcome; hiking, biking, and lots of local attractions abound. Clean restrooms available as well as sites with water/electric, though most of the vans congregate in the tenting area.

We'll have the site updated soon with a new logo and updated pricing per night of camping- though not much will change. We hope lots of vanners can come out and join us for a wonderful weekend of camping in Pennsylvania's coal region.

We have a very good time. There is always lots of interest in all of the unique vehicles. A lot of time is spent chatting about camper interiors or vehicle modifications. The original VW group is always interested to see what other makes of vans have to offer.

The campground owner treats our group very well and people tend to come back again and again.

Hoping maybe you can make it. Pittsburgh is not so far away!

Forgot to add that kayaks, canoes, and small motor boats are welcome. The campground has a boat launch into Fishing Creek which flows, within 250', into the Susquehanna River.

your event falls in the middle of 2 van runs the same week-end . i've allways run the show & shine at the Butler Pa.event. And I'm thinking a nother event is in the Jersey area on Labor day week-end as well.

If my 250 rebuild, my TH350 rebuild, and my kingpin and bushing replacements are finished (whew...) I would love to attend. Are there any hotels in the immediate area? The Mrs. was hardly a camper back in the day and would appreciate that type of amenity.

Would love to finally meet some vv folks!

Hey Man- I hope you can get all of that done! We would love to have you. I typed "hotels in Bloomsburg, PA" in a Google search and found about ten. Bloomsburg, as I am sure you know, is a college town, so it makes sense that they have accommodations for folks visiting from out of town.

You would obviously be welcome at all planned events...caravan, brunch, etc. You can come and go as often as you like- the campground owner is very laid back.

Well oiled machine with 12 years under our belt.

The basic premise is that we know that people can entertain themselves with lots of tire kicking and conversation and other leisure activities. Campground settings are laid back to begin with, and so the entire event is laid back. We keep it very unstructured with just a few planned activities and everyone seems to really like it.

I do realize that I am the new guy in town and there are other steadfast vanner events occurring over Labor Day weekend, but all are welcome at our event...we'd love to see you there!

Labor Day has alot of events, I'll be going to Taz Fest

That camp event looks like an absolute blast, I wish we could make it but it's too far away from us. Maybe some day though...

How are you making out? Only a few weeks left! Not sure if either of my Corvairs will make it. The van is down and out currently.
