I was thinking that we have many talented individuals on here that know more about our vehicles than most and was wishing there was another section that would be just for that purpose we have glass experts brake experts cnc welders upholstery bodymen painters and electrical upgrades. After years of reading have some of this list in my head but was thinking that it would be convenient to start a list and mapping it out by area so if someone needed something done and did not want to do it themselves and wanted to save time headaches and wasted money on learning curve they could go down the list see who is offering what and hire it done. This would be for both bussiness hobbyist and individuals that could talk about and showcase there specialties or shops they found. As an owner of g vans and an econoline it would be used often .Sometimes we briefly touch on it but there is no exact category for someone to find this resource

That 's interesting to say the least, it can work for the members who do this for a living body work. painting wiring welding and so on . And i'm all for that. But the way it's set up , Asking questions would give you more opinions on the subject. Some of the work is trial and error , But i'm interested in seeing were this goes.

my self i think its best the way it is, your have more people chiming in that may know how to help you with your problem, like me i only know a little about a lot of things, i have no specialties when it comes to working on cars, and i owned my own business for 30 years, john's auto service, and worked on cars for 50 years, i would rather hear from 12 guys that have an idea about something than maybe 2 guys,

Well, I'd tell you who's painting my 66 panel, but then I'd get bumped to the back of the line again!

Could just modify the listing to "people or shops who have done good work on, and /or are familiar with our vehicles" section. That would end up as just sort of a refrence page kinda like a "shops in your area with good vanner reviews"

Just my thoughts, but one of the best things that could be done is if everyone who signs up here would put their locations and contact info in their profile. That way if you wanted to talk to them about something you'd be able to contact them without having to totally depend on the forum.

Ill vote with dodge man on this - id hate to see some that may have some bad opnions & bad vibes toward anyone posting or commenting on pros & cons & prices of anyones work. As = we all are scattered across the nation-its hard to use anyone that isnt in our local area & we still can depend on all members here to give everyone some great info on where to get/do / and find stuff too. We've all seen those here that want to get buisness in paints & graphics & other stuff- thats not what this forum is about!! My 5'c says no to this -

I think this has been done on other sites as well. E-van examples:
Ford-econoline
Early Econoline Resources
I realize they do not map anything out by region but they are a good start. I have also realized that a shop may not know our particular vans that well but they know their trade very well. Machine shops and specialty alignment shops are a couple of examples. If they can align a straight axle truck then our vans should not be an issue for them.
I think a better method might be to get the information here that you should present to your shop to be sure they get it done right. I also have brought my shop manual with me which has resolved a lot of questions.

The links page should carry all that info. if you know a part works you should post the link there.most people don't look there . Instead they ask a question under general discussion. I've only posted the things I have used and know it works. at the same time you can look who posted it and send that person a p.m. about the product or installation.
