yeah the local tire shop knows im there about once a month,he has used tires with 5-6mm left of life in them and i get them cheap!
thank god the japs/european cars have their own cruises...
most of them are original 1.4-2.0litre (naturally aspirated engines) with big ass ugly body kits attached on them.
not my cup of tea...
we have some trackdays where people can go drive on the racetracks, and some drag racing strips also have the same thing.
a big difference in our and your cruisings (at least in texas) people only sat in front of their cars, here people go cruze a bit and burnouts aren't a stranger..
here people go to see if somebody would do a burnbout instead of getting mad like in texas.
but different things in different countries!
it's off course against our laws but then again, what fun thing wouldn't be..
as long as speeds are not too high it basicly a part of the cruising night.
most of the cars i think are self imported, some as new some used. in the mid 90´s people were mad to get caprice classics and vans from the us , cause when the finnish gm dealer sold them the prices were very high.
from 80 something to mid 90's they sold a lot of chevy vans n pickups, nowadays they dont import many of them.
for example dodge pickups were imported in the late 80´s and then it just enden, now they are coming again i think.
new mustangs are coming to our ford dealer, but they are very pricey.
most us cars nowadays are privately imported/ordered from some private companys that import them.
shipping to finland is between 1500-2000 bucks, and then we have to pay taxes that depends on make, model, price, how loaded they are etc etc..
finland really sucks with their taxes with cars.
and off course the gas prices are pretty high too about 8,5dollars / gallon.
which means most people only have so called normal cars. hondas, ford focuses, mercedes benz, volvos and so on and the american cars are hobbycars/weekend cruising cars cause of the gas prices.
