welcome to VV, the dodge axle is 5"x4.5", same as the old Ford axles. You can use a 14 or 15 inch rim but dont get radical with the back spacing, tire size also matters.
A 225x75x14 will fit, as will a 235x75x15 iirc.
Summit racing stocks some good looking rims in that bolt pattern still and you can find use rims on Craigslist pretty cheap sometimes.

Yes, 5x4.5 is a ford/dodge bolt pattern only. Some Jeeps run that same pattern as well. Chevy patterns are 5x4.75, or 5x5

You might want to take a closer look at tyour friends wheels... They commonly make some "multi pattern" wheels that are made to look like old stock wheels but have two different bolt patterns in them. You'll know these wheels because they will have probably 10 lug holes.
Or atleast I find them somewhat frequently on cars I pick up out here anyway.

I have been offered a set of 14" x 6 shod with 215-70-14 tyres that come from a coronet (including full size hubcaps) would they be 14" or 15" as a stock size?

The coronet 14X6" wheels should fit fine. The vans often came with 14" wheels and they should not be too wide or have too much offset to fit.

Rod is right. the van should be 14x 5 and in this case one in will make no differance. Althou some times it does, just ask my wife...
