The windows look a little short to be originals. Maybe a panel van with custom windows.

Re: Special order Econo van?
I blew it up without the fancy CSI stuff that makes it perfect.
I'd guess that what you are seeing is a side port window (notice the black rubber around it) and a sign on the back. No black edge, and the back vertical is not the normal window edge. It might even be a sign painted on the whole side.
I seriously doubt they would have a sdpecial no-door window glass and seal.

Nice work Rod! If you would now just remove that mailbox. LOL! It's just one of those pics that bugs me. The wheel arches look odd and the taillight seem huge too.

Re: Special order Econo van?
I know this sounds crazy, but as you know the original concept for the Econoline was as a pickup. Ford even designed a cap to sell through dealerships to make it a "covered pickup". Basically the Econoline was never intended to be a van, but not long before production they ditched the cap idea and made it into a van version. Even the marketing ads called it a covered pickup for 1961 and not a van. It looks like a cap on a pickup and the wheel arches are not right. Could someone have gotten hold of a prototype somehow?

Re: Special order Econo van?
Its a good thing Ford decided to do a van version, as the pickup was not that popular and made up only about 10% of total production during the run between 1961 and 1967. Ford would have lost it's butt on that investment.

Re: Special order Econo van?
I got CSI to remove the mailbox, so we could see what was behind it.

Re: Special order Econo van?
The reason I mention prototype is that as you know the final production pickups ended up having a curved corner glass. The cap would not have worked with a rounded rear cab back, as the glass and seal would have not allowed the cap to seal against the back of the cab. But what if the original Econoline pickup back of cab was supposed to look like the full size pickup? Squared off with no corner window, just a triangular side window like what you find on the van right behind the door glass. The wheel arch still bugs me too. And there is too much arc in the roof at the rear compared to a van.
Thanks Vanhaulin for this interesting picture. Man, if only pictures could talk. LOL
