    Bumper Brackets Empty Bumper Brackets

Post by Murdock Sat Aug 18, 2012 4:23 pm

I did not see this covered on here and wanted to share something I just learned the hard way. I attempted to put a 61 front bumper on my 67 and noticed that the bend in the front brackets are different on 65-67 even though everything bolts up nicely. I knew the mounting holes and shape changed but I was surprised to see a sharper curve down on the later brackets. I couldn't figure out why the bumper was angled up so much. I also noticed the front and rear 61-64 brackets are longer so on a 65-67 they stick out further.

I am sure I could get some beveled washers or bend the brackets but I think I am going to go back to the drawing board. I may have some bumpers available soon...

Hey Murdock, what if we cut and weld the brackets
At the angle it needs to be at ?

Yeah, I was thinking of that too. I guess I am debating which challenge I want to take on. I have the 61 bumper I would like to use but I also have a 65 bumper and brackets, they just need a little more work.

Thanks, I'll give you a call. Looks like we're both in the bumper market right now it would be good to collaborate.
