That's about were mine runs. I like the electric fan down under idea. Looks like it should work great. Good luck

If you are running a 180ish thermostat and holding those temps while on the open roads, thats doing great. The higher temp in slow traffic just means the fan may need a little help either in size or speed. but it's not doing to bad really. JMO

Get a 160 degree thermostat to run in the summer. You will feel a big difference in the heat in side your van!

!60 degrees only means that the themrostat opens at 160 degrees. Temp will still build to ~ 200 degrees from there in traffic.

Agreed. the T'stat is to allow quicker warmups. It will not control temps above open temp.

I just installed one in my 69 Gmc Handi Van saturday & it is working great! I won't go back with the 195 degree stat until this winter!

I would recomend adding an electric fan and keeping the engine fan.
My van use to run between 200 and 260 degree's.
I added an electric fan and now it stays under 200 degree's all the time.
I use a toggle switch to turn it on and off. It works great.
