For sure, I saw it in person and it looks great. There is also a shop in CA that does a swap for a rebuilt, perhaps someone here can chime in on details as the name escapes me.

Talk to my Pops as well ... he has a connection that might save a few bucks ... left him a couple of cores of blown up boxes ... it gets tough to steer when all you have is R turn ... lol

I second the recomendation of Red Head Steering in Seattle. Two weeks ago I installed a rebuilt steering box in my 61 van. I can actually drive in a straight line and it looks good too.

Site member Fred Carello had several extra rebuilt steering boxes he was selling. He may have some left.

To send a PM, tap the members name above their avatar to the right, a drop down menu appears, then select Private Message or just email since Jim supplied that.

Fred is a good man ... econo guru at your side of the world .. I'm driving around on his upholstery in my van and his gas tank as well ... If you want a Cats pink pucker upholstery kit with Barrett Jackson quality ... contact him ... great guy ... and shockingly enough ... I agree with Tim ... like my Pops always said ... you can't keep a good dog off your leg ...

I am jealous of the patience it takes to put all of that information together. Every time I get into a project I start off documenting and taking pictures then I get to the swear word part of the project and I turn the camera off. Very well done, thanks for finding the post.

Big W worse case scenario I can always get you a good used one from a parts van.
Murdock it took a lot of work for Ron to compile all that info and it's a shame he died with the truck still in pieces. Site member Fred Carello has purchased the truck from his widow which had just been painted and has put it together so we should see it on the road soon.

From that blog I purchased new "Spring Washers" -the old ones flat, so no spring after 360K miles, and those the main problem, works fine now.
