hi everyone. i got the van a few days ago and i will post some pictures of it later on today. its got some rust mainly in the rockers and dents from the doors swinging around in the front. has a ladder rack and a trailer style vent on the roof. first plans are to rip out all the interior carpet and put new pushrodcover gaskets in and fix those dents. also am gunna cut off the rack and take out the vent and try to fabricate a patch panel for the foot square hole that will leave pretty sure i need new spring bushings too and maybe shackles. its been a long time since iv had a project like this and im a bit intimidated cause i dont have a garage to work in. i have a little shed though that i can bring work into but just cant get the van near. i also have a blog at thatcherworks.blogspot.com if you want to see what else i do. so far just looking at past posts iv learned a lot and hope to contribute as well.

welcome to vintage vans don't get intimidated .Take your time and treet in like a construction job. no matter how big in it you still work one wall at a time. if you hit a glitch walk away and think about it or go around the corner and work there.. find out what you need and then search the market buy at a good price and you will do fine. wish ya all the best....but keep it fun......

Welcome to VV. From the description you gave of your van, Your going to fit in here just fine. Again, keep it fun and when you feel like it's more then you can handle, take a step back and look at something else. I feel your pain...I to am working out in the elements, but when it starts to rain I just move inside and play with wiring or wiper motor. Good luck and remember you have friends here and a lot of help. Happy Vanning.

What a find on that bench seat! I need one of those bad. I am new to vanning also, got mine weekend before last, a 65 Sportvan. I've also been known to do a bit of ceramics, I like the moonshine jugs you made.

dude! is san diego the chevy van mecca? i was born and raised in leucadia and just moved away to south lake tahoe a year and a half ago. Im glad you like the moonshine jugs! they are what i mainly throw on the wheel other than bowls and flowerpots.

Well, north county is definitely the VW Bus mecca, they are everywhere. But it took me a while to find a chevy van, had to go up north of LA to get it.
