This comes as a hard blow for me. I never met Dennis in person but my first phone contact with Him came shortly after buying my 67 econo van.. He was on his way home from the hospital, had an issue with a blood clot in His leg I think.... He was more than gracious on the phone, I peppered Him with dozens of newbie econo questions and He certainly had the answers..
For those of you that didn't know, Dennis had apparently driven econos since He was a teenager and if I remember correctly he told me He still had about 10 of them when I spoke with Him a month or so ago..
If you called Dennis on the phone when it rang He had an answer tone that was the song Copperhead Road, kind of his signature song I guess, hard to believe He's not around to answer that phone any more.
Dennis was and will be remembered as an econoline legend, He likely forgot more about econos than some of us will ever learn, He would tell me one thing after another about these boxy vans and I was all ears.
Im pretty sure our first phone call went over an hour and after talking to Him I felt like we were old friends, I can still hear His raspy laugh.
Only the Good Die Young
Rest in Peace My Friend
