Ok, my van is a 65 A/T and had the powerglide swapped out with a 700R4. The part in this picture (the cylinder with the grease fitting) is tight on the left side but very sloppy on the right (like its lost a bushing or bearing) . So even though it has tons of play I can shift fine from park into any gear no problem. But, when i go to put it back into park, that slop makes it tough. In fact I broke the bracket on the steering column from forcing the shifter too hard getting into park last fall. Whopman was kind enough to help me find a replacement. Now before I break another bracket I need to repait or replace this part pictured. What is it or where can i find one.
    Thanks guys!

**EDIT** AH, the right side of the pic got cut off. Hope its still clear what part this is.

,,,,,,,and just in case your local parts store is out of those bushings,,,,,,go to Home Depot and make a bushing out of PVC fittings or pipe,,,,,or slip a piece of garden hose over the ball,,,,,,,,,

I surely go to Chicago to fill up on Chicago Hot Dogs, Italian Beef, Sausage, Polish, Veal Cutlet and Minced Ham sandwiches,,and between meals go visit my family,,,,,,there might not even be a bushing in the cross shaft and the metal is worn out,,,,,so all the more reason to invent something,,,,,

So the stud that is attached to the engine bracket, is it supposed to be removable? On the back side if the bracket it appears to have been welded and now that weld is kinda broke (not spinning in place broke but at the far end of the stud it has about 1/4" of travel. Should it be removable (threaded maybe)? I'm gonna run over to my brothers house and get him to re-weld it.

That ball bracket is 1 piece and the weld often breaks,,,,,especially if it is used for the clutch fork cross shaft,,,,I have just put a nut and bolt with a bunch of flat washers to replace the ball when it has broken off,,,,,,

A carriage bolt will work if you don't have enough clearance,,,,there normally won't be much stress on that ball from the shift rod,,,,,,however if the left motor mount was loose or broke, that would bend the ball,,,,,,

So i bought a 2-1/2" SS bolt, two SS jamb nuts and some 5/8" hose. Put it together and cut off the excess bolt thread.

Its much better but i still feel the linkage needs some slight adjusting. When i put it in park it just needs that tiny bit to make it go in. I put a slight bit of pressure on the shift arm to put in in park. Where as before i darn near had to slam it in. I think "Rod D" needs to be just 1/4" shorter.

When i goto my local parts store and ask for anything for this van i'm usually met with blank stares and indifference. So i didnt even ask them, i just went next store to Ace. This should last a while.
