Since the bore is the same on both blocks you have to measure the stroke. 3.25 for a 230 and 3.50 for a 250.

Could you get an accurate measurement of stroke by putting a piece of coat hanger thru a spark plug hole and manually turning the engine over and measuring how much the wire goes up and down? Probably tricky since the wire would be at an angle.

They make cubic inch measuring tools. They are used in racing classes where racers are limited to a certain size engine.
