Anyone ever thought of running a rotary engine in an econo. I have a lead on a full built rotary for little money.

As a rule, they are high RPM, low torque engines.
I'm sure that the fans will say they have good torque, but it's still 4 cyl. territory to me.
Build it up and they always tend toward more RPM, less torque.
While our big ol' boxes aren't super heavy, they are not as light as an RX-7 or even the old PUs.
The main features of a rotary are high HP and quick winding in a small, light weight package. This is great if you are building a se7en or locost (Lotus Seven derived go-kart-like sports cars). It's even a nice package if you are swapping into a vintage Japanese econobox that weighs less than 2800 pounds.
For a vintage van, you want something built more toward a torquey, reliable lump. Quickly pull that 3200#+ box from 0-75 MPH. This is especially true if you plan on an auto behind your choice.
It's kind of like pulling a beer wagon with a barrel racing horse.
