Those smog carburetors have anti diesel solenoids on them to control the idle and when you turn the key off, it drops the RPM down so the engine finally stops,,,,,a 5/16" bolt with 2 nuts will put you back to the old way,,,,,,,

smog carb? any other differences? i removed the selonoid and used a bolt as you described, i have 3 to put on an offy intake and assumed it was the same carb other than selonoid. i think i saved the selonoid if you want it.

They put those solenoids on the carbs to make the engine run better because the smog equipment ADDED to an engine created driveabilty problems,,,,you probability don't have any smog equipment to worry about, so the bolt will work,,,,,that carb probably has a leaner jetting in it but it depends on how you use it,,,,,are you only using 1 of them for the idle RPM and the other 2 to dump gas in to go fast? I don't need that solenoid,,,,
