I didn't count the leafs, but would think the extra leafs would be in the back???

Dumb question here from a novice, could the axil have shifted position on the leaf springs? Question

There's a center pin that runs through the leafs and into the axle, so unless the pin has sheared off it should be in the right spot.

I didn’t know that before I started all this either..

Well, I dug around on the Discount Tire site and figured out what sizes I thought might fit, figured a 225/60/15 might be enough, and I wanted to keep the 265/60/15 on the back. The tire calculator showed only a couple of inches height difference between the two. Well, Discount doesn’t have 265s, so I went with 275s.. The thought was they were going to be a little wider, but I didn’t consider the rim being only eight inches would just make the 275 taller. On the Discount site you can enter the tire size you want and click ‘Check Availability’. That brings up a window with a list of stores, which I mistook that as those stores have those tires in stock, now I understand that means you need to start calling those stores.

So I get there and find they don’t have the front size I wanted, they didn’t have them in the warehouse, and would have to special order them. Since I planned on putting extra leafs in anyway, I told them to go ahead and give me the 235/60/15s for the front, and the 275’s for the back. Let me tell you, a 275 on an eight-inch rim is really tall, not much clearance back there anymore. I will be adding leaves back there too, but it looks really cool right now, something straight out of a Hot Rod cartoon..

I’ll post some pics as soon as I can..
