I was looking at my rear suspension and it has coil and leaf springs. Is this the way they came stock? I may post a pic later if it's not stock so you guys can see

some shocks have a small spring on them, or do you have a full on coil/over?

Re: Rear truck suspension
I agree he is probably talking about springs on load leveler shocks.austinmodhouse wrote:some shocks have a small spring on them, or do you have a full on coil/over?

Re: Rear truck suspension
They aren't on the shocks. They go from the axle tubes to the frame

Re: Rear truck suspension
In the old days before = air bad suspension= there were shocks available with a coil spring on the outsides of them = monroe called =Load levelers =[ these were the best even before "air Shocks " came about - I still use them on most of mt vehicles too. Better than air shocks unless u are varing the heavy loads in back. Happy Vannini]

That install was a dealer and aftermarket add on - I just removed a set from my 64 Ranchero-same ones .

Re: Rear truck suspension
I know the seats are to high cuz I can't bottom out any of the pedals lol. They will be replaced eventually before I start driving it. Right now it's just sitting in the yard with a few other classics. A 1965 Mercury, 1959 Pontiac Catalina, and a 1956 Chrysler New Yorker with a hemi. They aren't mine, just the truck, but the hemi sounds awesome . I need to do some work on them hopefully before car show season starts again.

Re: Rear truck suspension
I was in the process of getting a 1966 Plymouth Baracuda my uncle gave me back in 2010 but ended up moving across the country to help him and my aunt. It needed a lot of work but it was the first car my uncle ever owned and it would have been nice to fix it up. All his life he wanted a car with a hemi in it and was happy when he found the New Yorker for $600 and drove it home. He had a lot of plans for what he was going to do with it but cancer ended up taking him 4 days before Christmas. Cancer really sucks
