Haggertys insurance
Haggerty's accepted the van. Unlimited milage and agreed value at 22k for 309 a year. I can live with that.

That's awesome! How did you agree on the value? I'm interested in going with them too.

Re: Haggertys insurance
I have Haggerty and they valued my van at $5300 for $143 per year.not sure how they got the value.I had to send in pictures of the van inside the garage and pics of all 4 sides. They did tell me to insure it as a classic that it had to be worth at least $5000.They also said that was total loss insurance.

I went with a local insurance agent here in town that deals with haggerty. The agent himself has 3 or 4 personal classics with haggertys. He came over and took pics inside and out, and came up with 22k. I gave him a check last week and today in the mail is my policy and riders and a 22k agreed value. No hassles at all. AAA, state farm and one other wanted an appraisal along with pics so I went with haggs.

My AAA agent wanted me to use their appraisal company. Until I canceled today, they had me at the high blue book value at around 6k for 250 a year.

I called Hagertys last week. They want photos, as stated. They also want you to not drive except for Sunday cruises, etc. Must keep it in garage. I'm concerned that if I drive it to Wal-Mart and someone plows into me they won't pay. Can't recall if they or Geico's classics division had an extended mileage plan. Both want you to tell them what they need to insure it. Occassional driving, not for busines. I told them 5,000 miles a year, a few times a week driving.

I have been thinking of switching to Geico. They offer a 10 percent discount to veterans

I'm reading my policy right now. My agent told me not to worry about the mileage or driving time. I'll know shortly

Re: Haggertys insurance
I have Hagerty's and have it at $7500 for $90 a year plus $20 for the magazine and concierge service. As I understand it, I can't use it as a daily driver, I have to have insurance on another vehicle to cover liability etc but I can drive to shows and can basically drive it around town. Any trip to anywhere is technically a test drive - I just bled the brakes and I'm testing it out, I just put air in the tires and I'm testing it out, I just changed the oil and I'm testing it out...you get the idea.

Re: Haggertys insurance
What I read is this for shows, parades, club activities and is used infrequently for other purposes. That's what I cruise it for, "infrequently for other purposes". There are car shows in town every weekend and it's not a daily driver so I think I'm cool with it.

I ve had Hagerty before but they turned my 61 pro street down since it has nitrous. Grundy had no problem with the nitrous so I went with them.

Re: Haggertys insurance
i have my panel with grundy, the agreed value is
a dollar figure that you decide how much you want
your van is worth, thier only stipulation is that
you must garage the vehicle at overnights.
25000.00 for 215 a year.

I would suspect that your healthcare insurance costs might go up too.

Re: Haggertys insurance
had state farm classic on my van - they decided to change what they will cover and said they will no longer allow the van in the classic car policy ( not nice enough) - geicos classic policy is administered by a third party - i think it is american if i recall - geico also offers home owners thru a third party - i already happened to be with asi so i get a discount on my home policy too -all the classic companies i checked also require a garage for vehicle to be keep in - one that only you have access to - so not a work warehouse etc - oo3

Re: Haggertys insurance
I have Haggerty on my wife's '68 Galaxie and my '65 A100, total for both is less than $200 a year w/$10k of coverage for each.
eta:
I chose the amount of coverage and the amount of mileage I wanted to be able to drive per year and that's how the price is figured. I didn't see anything about driving "only to shows" etc, just don't exceed the mileage limit per year. Might want to check that part.

Yeah, I read my policy again. In fact, they only wanted the approximate milage of the van. I told them that I'd put less than 5k a year on it and they said it didn't matter. They may have changed?

Re: Haggertys insurance
I'm paying $216(year) for both my 65 & 66 through Hagerty and they did want to know the annual mileage but said it was for a baseline average. They said they know your mileage is and will be different from year to year. And would only make a difference if the vehicle became a "Daily Driver" or went in for restoration for more than a year and that I should inform them if either was the case....

Re: Haggertys insurance
Just got a letter from Haggerty's. Policy says in effect until 10/5/2012, 22k agreed value and that I overpaid them $109 so it looks like I have 22k for another year for only $200. Sounds like a good deal to me
