looking at the motor pictures in photo gallery i determined the right side of waterpump hose go'es to intake then exits the rear of intake then go'es down underneath by frame rail. which hose connects to shut off valve and which hose go streight to the heater core ?

Re: heater hose routing help
The one from the water pump pushes through the intake ,exits out the back down to the heater valve into the heater core and returns into the side of the block if i remember correctly . You have to look at it as a flow pattern. Basically psi pushes the fluid through everything.

Re: heater hose routing help
Only recommendation I would make is to make sure that you connect the hoses to the heater core in the right order... inlet should be the bottom half of the core IIRC. Our trucks are prone to developing air bubbles in them, and are hard to burp. Heater core plus air bubble = no heat.

Re: heater hose routing help
the heater hose connected to the waterpump would draw the coolent this is where the lower radiator hose connects. the coolent gets pushed out the other side where the thermostat houseing is. Now i am realy confused

Re: heater hose routing help
Hmmm... I don't think water is drawn from the heater core, rather I think gravity drains it. I always thought that the heater hose spigot on a water pump was a coolant outlet... just where it is in relation to the pump vanes. Am I wrong? I guess I will just watch and learn now.

Re: heater hose routing help
yes radiators fill from the top hose and drain from the bottom sorta like a push / pull thing going on. hooked up everything all was good until i notice heater core started dripping anti/frez. oh well take it apart- put it together again. still would like to know how the factory ran these hoses

Re: heater hose routing help
The way i tried to describe it was how mine was. It was pretty much the factory way. Now the heater core i an unsure of as mine was bypassed due to leaking. But it came from the water pump to the intake then to the heater then returned to the side of the motor.

Re: heater hose routing help
looking at the pictures in the gallery most are like that. thats how i ended up running my hose's. then i put the shut off valve on the line going between the engine block and heater core.
