My carb on my 240 is wore out. Has a ton of play in the throttle shaft. I'm not above rebushing it and a kit,but I wonder if there is a quick route.Anybody have any luck with remans? Any part numbers or advice?

I have an Autolite 1100(?), which is basically the same 1bbl carb my first 170 had. When I needed a replacement, the local fuel specialists only found one in all of western Canada. Cost me about $200 if I recall correctly (IIRC). Might be a rare piece in the PNW too.

If Holleys are available, they usually have slight differences in linkage. Good luck.

I needed a carb for my 240 too and the only place I could find one was ebay, and it still wasn't that easy!

But here are a couple options:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966-67-Ford-Truck-240-cu-Nos-Carburetor-/320691015481?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4aaaac8f39

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-63-69-Ford-Holley-Carburetor-240-300-cu-eng-/220833497953?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item336ab3c361

You can always google the part numbers too to see which models the carb is actually for. I think I ended up getting one that was for 65 - 67 240 ford passenger vehicle man. trans. or something like that. It works great. I was also picky and wanted manual choke, which took longer to find.

Pony carbs are great but a bit pricey.

When you look up carbs for the 240 not alot shows. But look up Autolite 1100 and you get some hits. I sold out and called Carbtech out here in Tacoma. They said 175 to rebuild it and 25 to rebush it.They have done well by me and others I know. They have a warranty too. Kinda spendy but it will be nice to just file it under finished. And mess with the fun stuff.
