Hi out there!!!! I'm new here I'm looking to buy 2 vans a 65&69 G the 69 needs windshield. I haven't seen them up close yet but going on road trip tomorrow. I was wondering if you might have some advise to as what I might be getting into he is asking 6000 for both seller tells me 69 is from tennessee and 65 is from california. I was wanting a van to cruise the kids around in style not in no caravan if you know what I mean. I guess I was gust wondering how part finding is going to be I don't need to many headaches if you know what i'm trying to say.

Welcome Van crazy !!!!! Windshields are still available for second gen's (67-70). As with most old vehicles some parts are hard to find but most of the time someone here will have what you need or can point you in the right direction. Just look close for rust problems, especially around the spring shackles at the frame. These vans are uni-body and the frames are not very heavy.

    welcome to the site

parts can be found , some new and others used but its not like your 65 chevelle or your 66 mustang or even your corvair or 55 ford pick up where lots of parts can be had over the counter.

no body has really cared for these vans over the years so there is very little availible new and some reproduction parts however most availible parts are found listed for other vehicles that used the same part so rerseach is required to get what you need.

Like Wideload said. this site will be about your best sorce for parts and information.

Rust is the only worry we have,,,,,,,,,around the windshield,,,,,,,,on the roof,,,,,,the front floor,,,,,,,the rocker panels and bottom of doors and door posts,,,,,,,and it takes time and money to repair it,,,,,,,,so the less rust,,,,,,the better off you will be,,,,,,,,,,

Pop the cover on the brake master cylinder too. My 68 looked like it was full of mud, and I haven't been able to get the cover off my 66 yet.

Remember, whatever rust you find, there's more that you can't see. If the floor isn't exposed try to pull back whats there. The original rubber floor-mat was real good about holding moisture and rusting floors. It can be fixed, it's just one more thing.

Good luck, and post some pic's..

Look at the prices posted in the for sale section.
I'd say that 3K each they better be darn nice, but up in the NE the pickings are slimmer.
