new to the site

hey y'all, i'm new to the site and wanted to say hi. back when i was a brat, i remember seeing my dad get picked up for work in the mornings by his buddy who drove an early econo. the image of the flat nose, big windshield, headlights, and bezels rolling up in the driveway has always been a very vivid memory for me, and was definitely the inspiration for my van. i have a '61 econo rapevan (no windows, hehe) that i've been messing with for the past couple years. im pretty certain it started life as a bell system installer's van. it has all the right filled holes in the right places (add-on turn signals above the headlights, roof rack mounting points, bumper racks for saftey cones, western mirrors, etc), and it's the same dark-drab green color all those vans used to be. which is cool to me, because i did telco/central office work for years after high school. sorry i am unable to throw a pic up right now, but will fill them in when i have a chance.

btw, im much more of a lurker here than anything (hence the username), but if anyone needs any van-related help in virginia i'd be glad to.

Welcome! There's no need to associate anything bad with these cargo vans... it's not like they are common. People that are going to commit a crime will use a newer white sedan with window tint, not an early van that sticks out like a sore thumb!

Yeah, I love my cargo van... I just figure that what goes in (or on in) there is no one's business but mine!

You are correct Sasktrini. I have a '98 Econoline (generic white work cargo van with the old signage sprayed painted over) that we affectionately call "Lester"!
