somebody clue me in- as to why to me it seems the van meets are charging so much? I could see charges for toilets- but still the area parks would be free.?? They providing food, entertainment, whats happening ? Ive got a park within 1 mile thats free & some property here for a meet-BYOB?? Foods & free camping - maybe a small charge for some toilets?? Geezz = seems after we all pay 4 bucks a gallon for gas to travel 500+++ miles - there should be some thing to make us really want to get there ?? Anyone up for a meet in NE washington?? maybe a 3 dayer??

Re: Charges @ van meets=????????
what is driving up the cost of van meets is the price of the campground.
the campground we use wants 12.50 per van per night, trailers are more. and
then there is the entertainment, the free beer, if you are west of the
missouri river. The nationals also have the extra burden of the insurance
that the grounds demands that we have. hope this sheds some light.

I might make a van meet in NE washington. Depends when. My 18 year old son was just sworn into the airforce last week and will be off to Quebec at the end of the month. So I am inlimbo at this point. But a road trip sounds good if those boarder patrol homeland security people let me in.

Re: Charges @ van meets=????????
i choked at the gate when they charged me $125.00 to get in, but add it up. 7 days and 6 nites for van and camper, 4 bands on 2 seperate stages, 2 days of showing vans plus awards, shuttle around grounds til at least 2:00 am, ice delivered to site cheaper than i can get it at store, burn out contest, naked women running around at 3:00 am, the list goes on. anywhere else would easily double that price. the events arent overpriced, we are getting old and just cant keep up with inflation.

Re: Charges @ van meets=????????
Likely everyone is correct.Just seems like weve got to have some big bucks to attend if we could afford it?? 1 big meet would be the familys vacation id think? expense wise. What im looking into = would be a local meet - likely free for attendees- yet if porta pottys are brought in -a small charge for that is possible?? Ive got a small county park available within 1/2 mile no one uses. and some acerage here to meet & camp on. Just seems with all the fuel costs we incurr getting to a meet- we could do something else to keep the overall costs down for us ??

Re: Charges @ van meets=????????
For an evant like the Nats, you're looking at $65 per van with 2 vanners. Considering the experience you come away with and what we all pay in gas to get there, it's really feels like change by the time Sunday morning rolls around. When you start adding a trailer and additional passengers is when it can start to get pricey, but still cheaper than taking the family to a 3 hour sporting event, and WAY more fun.
