You know, I've gotten no info from print media on earlies... just on the internet!
There is a group I don't belong to (I don't own a vintage Chevy YET), but the
Vintage Chevy Van Club VCVC is somewhere you must be online.
You need to be here at VintAGE-Vans, and you need to research the market on Craigslist, Kijiji (NYC's listings suck right now, but they're huge in Canada), eBay... look at prices and conditions of vans that pop up!
If members here are selling, they tend to be picky about who buys them... they don't want it stripped to be a work truck, because it's for vannin and we're proud of our vans! So people tend to have positive experiences when they buy within the community.
You've already made up your mind you want a first gen Chev, and it will be easy! You'll own one very soon. All the candidates will range from barely breathing to fully restored. I've got two barely breathing earlies... a Ford I paid $700 CAD for, and a Fargo A100 I paid $50 CAD for, both probably in the same condition, but I was a bit more frugal and less emotional when I made the offer on the Fargo.
I give it a couple weeks before your jones gets the better of you!
