My story. Mostly a toyota guy. But last year I had a friend in need of a car - so I bought a beater 1967 F100 for him to use and me to fix up. Since then I have changed the dash, cleaned up some rust, put in a new oak wood bed, replaced the breaks, done a number of engine small things, and replaced lots of small parts here and there - and refinished a seat. I enjoyed it so much and it gave me stuff to do with my four kids and my dad.
So, then - we had a lady living in our house who needed another car cause her car died. I had seen a guy with a cool 64 van in our neighborhood - and I thought that looked like a fun car. So, I bought our lady a van (the black and silver) van --- and then found another one for cheap that I could fix up and use to help in our local food pantry. I'm a pastor of a church who is committed to helping people on the edges - with food, clothes, family support, community resources, etc - so I thought the vans could double for all these activities: feeding the homeless, delivering groceries, toting people around, etc.
I'll be busy cleaning the blue one up - and I need seats for both of em. And I need a new windshield for the blue one.
So, I bought two vans - for other people, for me to fix up. Along with my F100. I'm crazy. I don't even have the money to fix up - but will do the little I can as I find time and a little bit of money. Both of them run.
My Two New Vans. 1967 and 1966.
