miata seats
Hello all, anybody have a set of miata seats , I need a measurement. I need to know how wide they are at the back where the bottom and back meet, also how how wide the backs are. I installed a supercharger on my 1st gen and have very little room for a seat on the passenger side. I only have 16" hoping the miata seat will work. I've check the junk yards but none have any to measure Thanks Bob

Re: miata seats
I put a set of chevy venture van second row seats in my 68 g10
they are the narrowest seats that I could find and they were 17.5 wide
and they were a challenge to install also sit high, so not the answer for
everyone.

Re: miata seats
back2thewoods,
Here's a few pic's I found from when I was trying to figure out the Miata mounting.. Once I figured it out I permanently mounted them and they are fully functional!
Using 2" square stock to make crossbar. Cutting to length, drilling a mounting hole using outside factory seat mount.
Made inside brackets using 1 3/4" stock to fit inside above crossbar and mount to doghouse.
Took this pic while testing the bar and bracket for proper length only. I have the doghouse bracket in sideways, normally it would be up and down following the bodyline of the doghouse. But you get the idea......
Position your seats on the bars so you can use both the sliders and reclining functions of the seats. Mark and drill the holes and mount the fronts of both seats and then work on the backs.
On the backs, make the tubes & brackets Driv & Pass sides are different lengths. Position the rear brackets and mark the seat mounting holes first and drill, then work on the outside (Fender well) mountings. This takes a bit more creativity since the do not line up with the factory seat mounting holes. You can use a few large fat washers or make some custom brackets like I did. Then just bolt the inside brackets to the doghouse..... Done!
Fully adjustable and reclining! Oh, almost forgot.... You can "OPEN" your doghouse lid without hitting the seats if you position the seats just right.
Hope this helps....

Re: miata seats
Their Identical to the fronts except for they are offset from the fender well by about an inch so you need a spacer. Large washers work great....
