If it is like what has happened when the flooding happened here, you clean them up and sell them as just washed

Re: Wow, poor Japan
Just curious =?? does anyone ever think of what the Japanese did to everyone in the workd=in The Big war?/ anyways - we did more damage to stop that war with 2 little "A" bombs than the earthquake & sunami combined . Then we helped rebuild Japan & their $ is worth more than ours?? Go Figure??

Re: Wow, poor Japan
Something that's impressed me thus far.. The lines for water and food, the folks in line wait patiently without rioting or pushing and shoving. These are POLITE people. They have respect for themselves AND each other. Just my observation.

The people in Japan are very strong and proud. They will get through this better than most countries would. I just wish this had happened to N. Korea instead of Japan

Re: Wow, poor Japan
A silver lining in all this is that there will be less Japanese vehicles on the market and that may help to increase sales of American made vehicles here putting more Americans to work. I have never owned a Japanese vehicle and never will. Always try to buy American whenever possible. Like many other Americans I will never forget what Japan did in World War 2.

Re: Wow, poor Japan
I agree with buy American, but it is stupid Americans that don't support our own product, and politicians for taxing US car maker's more then international builders.
I think modern Japan has come 10 fold from the 40's Japan and have become peacefull, respectable, hard working people.
We could learn a lot from them as how to act...We have an NBA team win a championship and Young Americans celebrate by burning and over turning cars, trashing store's...Don't think you will see that going on in Japan.

I agree we could learn a lot from the Japanese, but I have lived with and trained with So. Koreans and they have my total respect. Very disciplined, and hard working. I was in awe of the Korean Tiger division in Vietnam. What a great bunch of soldiers.

Re: Wow, poor Japan
I have several Japanese friends in Japan. All safe, thank goodness.
I do not know how WW2 can even be brought up in this thread, much less in general. I've seen plenty of interviews with US soldiers that were at Pearl Harbor...they've moved on and forgiven the Japanese soldiers from that time. Japan is NOT that country anymore.
"Buy American" is a bit outdated. When the big American car companies start to build high quality, affordable, reliable cars, they'll start selling more cars. In the meantime, a lot of the Japanese cars are being built in the U.S....by an American workforce.

Re: Wow, poor Japan
yes and all of the profits go back to Japan. Buying American will never be outdated. Not as long as there are American patriots that are willing to put the future of America first and support American made products.Barnett wrote:I have several Japanese friends in Japan. All safe, thank goodness.

Re: Wow, poor Japan
At the risk of de-railing a perfectly decent thread gone bad...
If the American car companies want us to support them, and "buy American", then it's time to get serious about quality, price and reliability. Oh...and the fat cats running the companies might want to get rid of their jet planes and multiple houses and stop taking lavish vacations while their employees are being laid off and the tax payers are handing over money.
Food for thought...
http://articles.cnn.com/2008-12-12/us/american.cars_1_foreign-brands-dutch-mandel-american-car?_s=PM:US
Maybe the money is coming home...but it's not going in the worker's pockets. Meanwhile a lot of the Japanese cars
are being built by American workers, which is better for the economy than stuffing the pocket of some lazy CEO.

Re: Wow, poor Japan
No the money is going into our economy. I am not talking about just buying American made cars I am talking about buying American made products period. If people like Japanese or Chinese products better they should move to that country and support it all the way. Being American means supporting America in every way possible.

Re: Wow, poor Japan
Buy American products or buy American labor? There's a HUGE difference these days. I'm all for supporting American companies, but I'm even more for supporting American WORKERS and I have zero sympathy for American companies that send their product out to be made over seas, then sold back to us, just so they can make more money. Converse shoes is a prime example of this. Now made in China, but costing more than ever before. I think Levis are made over seas, too. the list goes on.
I'll support those that are helping this country....regardless where they're from.
