Any one know about adding airconditioning to the rear area of our gen1 & 2 vans ? I have an underdash unit from a 70 chev pickup that was given to me . It will fit under the dash perfectly. Im just curious as to adding a rear unit ? Maybe from a later model van -mostly a gm unit?? Whoose dun it ? I also will be adding a rear heat unit from my old gen 4-5?? 1986 van to it. Help & suggestions are apprecieated-Tahnx. I should also ask - if anyone has a late model van - what mfg. A/c really works great in the back area??

    Ac Condenser

I think this site http://www.classicautoair.com/ can help. I think they still offer a free consultation on all AC matters for old cars, vans and trucks. Good luck!

i put a trunk mount aftermarket ac unit from vintage air
in a 78 ford van, mounting it under the rear seat. was
not to hard to install and plumb. worked great

It was a trunk mount kit from vintage air, it has 4 tube connections
for the vent, u put them where you want, the intake air vent
was installed through the front of the seat, like behind where
your caves would be if you were sitting on the seat. electrical
was easy, as well as the plumbing. vintage air does a nice job
on thier installation instructions, was easy to read and understand,
lots of pics of typical installation. you can a look of the instructions
on vintage air`s web sight. I have one of thier genII super cooler
units in my panel and I am very happy with it.

Go to pick a part and pull parts from the late model family vans, I have seen both back roof mounted and under seat mounted. Pull all the plumbing and fittings up to the compressor and condenser/ or evaporator on the front of vehicle, don't remember which won it is off hand. It also has the heater in the case also. cheers
