    1966 Econoline 4x4 1966_e10

Just closed the deal on a new, for me, 66 Econoline 4x4. Owner sent me some pics and as per him it runs great, new tires, 4x4 works as it should, no rust.
Now the auto transporter part starts. I put out an on line bid and so far Aliance Auto Transporters looks the best, 5 star rating and good price. Hopefully this will go smooth...

BIG thanks to G-man for his daily "for sale" posts..that's where I found it...

You should talk to Vic,aka Old Skool. He has a killer setup for sale to make yours a 4wd and he is in California too, the L.A. area.

Yeah, It's going to be hard to wait. Hopefully all go's easy with the Transporter. This is my second time using a transporter, don't know why but I am a little uneasy about them until the van gets here.
The hard part is going to be which van to keep. I spent the entire summer getting the 67 body mint, and have restored it from day one with all intent of keeping it for years. I have always wanted a 4x4, so it's going to be rough to decide. I guess it's a good situation to be in...1966 Econoline 4x4 Van_bo11

I would love to keep both, but I think I would have to live in one if I did.

Well had my first hassle with the transport company today. The arrangement told to me by them was I give them $150 deposit on credit card with the balance due on delivery. The driver gets to the owners house this morning and want's half the balance in cash for gas and tolls!!
I call the transporter and of course the guy I set it up with is off till Monday the girl I speak with tell's me she thought I knew about this and cancel's the driver. Now they have to find another driver from NM to NY!!
I hate this S*$%. Now I look like a jerk to the owner..will update..

After much hassle it was picked up today. The owner said they were real strange....Which at this point make sence..He took picture's of the van at all sides while it was on the truck, just in case..He was a cool guy to buy a van from very understanding through all this.
Will update when, if, it makes it here....
I am betting they get here at like 4am to unload..

After a lot of hassle's with the transport company my "new" 66 Econo 4x4 made it here!!
The body is very clean, I don't see any rust at all..It looks like it had one paint job over the original paint. It is peeling and will need to be stripped, but a very nice body.
The motor runs strong, no smoke on cold start up, sounds healthy. There is a carb issue it does not get fuel on cold start. It seem's to be fairly new, but the is a leak at the base. Have to shoot a little gas into it cold then it runs decent. Frame also very good, no rust. The 4x4 system is jeep transfer case with jeep axles, so I am told.
I have not really got all over it yet but so far it looks very good.
It is a beast though. I have to climb to get up into the driver seat and I am 6'3. Make's my 67 look small.
Looks like a nice project... Smile

Looks like you did real well on that one. I've always liked these with a 4X4 conversion. I'd like to see some shots of the 4X4 setup.

Had to do a little "trimming" to get the 4x4 into the garage. Took about 4 inches off the doorway entrance. Van fit in with about 1/2 inch clearance,
after taking the roof vent off, but at least she is in and safe. Might have to rest it for a while so I can Finally try and paint the '67..
