Name that Seatbelt... Empty Name that Seatbelt...

Post by Guest Wed Sep 01, 2010 1:57 pm

A guy with the same exact 1965 Chevy Sportvan as mine posted this image of a perfect 3-point seatbelt upgrade. Everything seems to fit exactly as needed. However, he doesn't know where it came from.

Can anybody name this seatbelt (what type of car/truck it came out of)?

I really want to get better seatbelts in my van for obvious reasons.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Those are indeed my seatbelts. I love wandering thru junkyards so someday I'll do a search for this type of seatbelt. When I find it I will post it here!

I should point out that the part with the button is a bit trickier to mount. My van had it bolted to a makeshift seat mount that I ditched. So currently I'm driving with no way to fasten my seatbelt. You can't just bolt it directly to the doghouse due to the angle of that part. When I come up with a way to mount it I'll post a photo.

Are there any markings on it that might help identify it? Letters/numbers etc?

Also, I've been viewing the standard conversion sealtbelts and I'm wondering how that would actually work. Do they need to modified?

On the other side of the coin I've heard that seatbelts from Wranglers and Fieros work in a 1965 sportvan with minimal modification.

    Thanks for all the input.

I can narrrow down the brand... Toyota. Had that same push button in my '88 pickup. Still working on the exact car. But these are definately the belts.

I was NOT expecting Toyota. That helps a lot. I'll look into it.

What a great forum this is.
