Lowered Econoline - Shocks Empty Lowered Econoline - Shocks

Post by EconoCarl Wed Aug 11, 2010 7:50 pm

It's looking like I need to find shorter shocks for the Econoline. Before going to the parts house and pestering them I figured I'd see what y'all (those of you with lowered Econolines) are using.

FYI: The rear axle is now on top of the leaf springs (axle flip) and 3 leaves have been removed from the front.

    Hi Carl,
Check with the Street Rod shops. Found these at Speedway Motors. They have others.

I won't know until later. I haven't driven this van (OK, maybe 3 miles) since I got it July 30. Removed air bags from previous owner and ran out of "engineering time". Going back stock to drive it to Mid-South Econoline Meet Labor Day weekend. We'll deal with lowering it afterward.

Hi Carl. Here's some photos of a air bagged Econo I saw on OldEconolines that look pretty good. I like the set up much better like this. Bags are out where they should be. I wonder if your bags would work like this? The trailing arms would be easy to fab. Something to think about.

The wheels are 15x6 with 205/65 rears and 195/95 fronts. I tried to keep the tire height near stock.

Hey Carl,if you had only waited a little longer heres 2 nice 67's that would have been great to replace your wrecked 67 with. Ones an 8 door and ones a Deluxe Club Wagon.

I really like that 8 door. Looks like it has potential. I'm a little partial to eight doors myself. I got this one about this time last year.

I like Carl's new van though. Not many left with original paint.

Carl. Just go ahead and buy them all!! LOL. Never have too many Econo's.

Tim, aside from the issues with the suspension, I am very happy with the one I ended up with! Finally started driving it last Friday night. And this one will have some DCW pieces real soon!

The frame was notched by the PO when he bagged it. The rear was all right, but the front was a really bad job. For now, I put it back stock. We'll work on lowering it after we get back from the Mid-South Econoline meet in Arkansas Labor Day weekend. Here's a pic I took of it Saturday night:

Thanks Duane, I'm liking it more everyday! And it's looking like only the nose has been repainted and rust is pretty much non-existent.
