Post by Nightmoves Wed Jul 07, 2010 11:13 am

I need to vent a little! I was sittin on the couch, laptop in front of me,reading on the board, when there was a loud knock upon my door(I have a doorbell). There stood some Yayhoot, asked me about my van out back, that part has happened before. He said he wanted to check because he's in the JUNK bussiness & wanted to know if I wanted to have it Hauled Off ! Well...the little man came unglued!!! I proceeded to tell him(much nicer here),It was Not junk,it was Not for sale,& have a good day! Afterwards,I thought he might have been casing it out.Just last night on news they had a story on late night snatch & grab on old vehicles, sellin to j-yards,no title required after 5 yrs.,& yards have terrible records on who they pay out to.18 alone this past month.Police have been crackin down on them, getting records.Tow trucks with no name or regstration have been seen in some (not mine) neighborhoods.
    I feel better now.

Thinking a few motion sensors and some ammo reloading might help!! In Florida you "Must" have the title no matter what the age of the vehicle....

Yeah,I was kinda thrown a curve too when said title not required after a certain age.But ya know,it takes some big kahuna's to go up to somebodys house night or daylight, put a hook on a vehicle. They have been semi-striped,to appear junk, then sell to yards.
I don't have the shiit-tzu's in attack mode yet. They make a lot of racket.
Just have to lock & load.

Moe... as long as they bark that is all that counts. I know if it wasn't for my dog and motion lights I wouldn't hear a thing. To many years tuning engines "by ear", and way to many hours under the hoods and deck lids of army vehicles.

Put a BEWARE of DOG or GUARD DOG on PREMISES sign on your gate or fence to the backyard. Just because you don't heard them, doesn't mean they aren't back there.

Yeah some insurance ,, thankfully we upped the coverage some after we moved the rest of the stuff to the new shop, Its almost impossible to know what all is gone, some of the stuff you use once inn a blue moon ,, I thought of 2 more things tonight that we didnt get on the police report. There was just so much small stuff like hole guages and such , The tally is near 10k in replacement. Ya just dont realize how much you have till you have to figure it out. I really couldnt believe it. we are no strangers to thieves at the pit, copper was the last time, stripped the wiring off the conveyors ( the ones they thought wouldnt kill them) and big lincoln welders.time before that was tools again but we had a much smaller quantity on site. but it was bigger stuff. Have ADT coming tomorrow to maybe set us up ,, closing the door afterwards I guess.. My bro and I thought we had them stopped at the gate, they had the guts to stand out next to the road for almost 1/2 hour messin with the cables. Once in its easy to hide from the road, not much we can do about that. All I can recommend guys is to take a photo inventory of everything ya got, We are going to engrave our USDOT # on everything we get for replacements this time,, its almost impossible to stop a determined theif without killing them,,,,,,,, I wish,,,,,,

Sorry to hear this Joe. When my house was robbed some years back my alarm was going and they ripped them off the walls, took whatever they could grab, ate a plate of food from the fridge and drank 2 beers before they left. 3 hours later I got a call from the police. 3 hours!!! I got nothing from the insurance because I didn't have receipts for my stereo, cameras, CD's or my tools. Video tape all the stuff and keep receipts is what my NEW insurance carrier told me to do. We are living in tough times these days. I work at golf course and there are smash and grabs in broad daylight in the parking lots all the time. I don't own a gun but....

    That is a sick,empty feeling when that happens.As well as being mad.I too have been broken into before.I had 5 hand guns gone,amongst other stuff.I did get 1 Sig .40 back,2 years later.When I had it,new in box,never fired.When I got it back,looked like it'd been dragged down I40.
