running lights and wiper speeds

is it normal for the running lights under the headlamps to not be lit up when the light switch is pulled all the way out? there are dual filament bulbs in each socket. the running lights come on when the switch is in the first position out, and then turn off when the last switch position is reached when the headlamps come on. the running lights still signal in both switch positions but only burn steadily in the first position. any ideas? also what do you suspect may cause the wipers to operate at only low speed? i pulled the switch case apart and the contacts are okay. just cant get the other speed. any help would be appreciated. thanks steve

thank you for the quick response guys, i spent a couple hours trying to find something wrong with both of those scenarios. everything looked ok so i started to wonder. thanks again! did manage to repair the rheostat in the dimmer part of the light switch so now the dash lights dim. thanks again

Its not hard to convert your wiper switch over to intermittent setup,, I use mine all the time and you cant tell its not stock.

I have a friend that says you can adapt a 2nd gen Ford switch to work. He just upgraded his 2nd gen wipers to intermittent, and that the only difference is the shaft length needing to be trimmed...

You might have a short though affecting park lamps.check the grommets or the bulb sockets for clues. Bad lens gasket may have corroded the contacts?

Third try, how do you get the pic blurp to go away, cant get the pics, and give up for right now.. The switches are in the Pickups and the Bronco's, look for the one with the red end plug,as the black one will not have the relay box or setup. It will plug directly into our 67 motor, so much easier if you use it, than messing with wires. Cut the length to match, but remember our switch pulls out for wiper washer, this one pushes in. Also, slightly lengthen the flat area, and I use a dremel with the cut off wheel, to make a new slot for our knob and its spring tab to insert into. Use a couple of washers to set the height correctly on the switch shank, and it looks completely stock. Two speed control, and to the left side, adjustable intermittent wiper speed control.
Use mine all the time.

i've learned that i can have intermittent wipers simply by clicking the switch much more. now for the intermittent steering...
