    my door plate on my 69 108 says axel 3600, its not the rear spring, thats a diff #. any ideas?

    Thats how much weight it can hold,,,,,,and its rating ,,,,and its a package deal,,,,,with the springs, hubs, tire and rim size and brake system,,,,,,,,if you had a smaller number axle, all those parts could be different,,,,,mostly smaller. Both the front and the rear usually have different ratings.

    Are you asking how to tell what rear end you have? A 741 has a large "X" stamped to the left of the yoke as you look at it, 742 large "2", and 489 large "9"
