It happened in Australia. Driver and his friend returning from a car show 8 hour drive it said. Ran into a large truck parked on the side of the road.

Dash cam footage from another driver shows the van out front and then the front tire blows and the van crosses left across 2 or 3 lanes and crashes into the back of the truck at around 50 MPH. The truck was parked on the side of the road. They don't show the actual impact happen....but then again we don't need to...we already know what happens here. The driver survived, but the passenger unfortunately did not. Very sad to see that footage.

It's a sobering reminder that even though your tires look good, if they are near or over 10 years old, blow-outs can happen at anytime no matter how much tread you have. Not saying his were old...who knows? My Torino tires look brand new with only 5k miles on them, but they are ready for replacement next year.

It's a good reminder to go through the tie rods wheel bearings ect, ect. These are 50+ year old vans. I'll never forget when I took the wheels off mine and put it on stands to go through it and the drivers side front wheel was rolled off and gently hit the garage floor on it's side and deflated. In the week before I had it on the highway for the first time and took it up to 65. It still gives me shivers to think about those tires. No shit. Not to mention all the other problems I found going through it. Know it because you looked at it, be safe
