    Hey Guys,

So my friend has had this truck for years and is looking to sell. We are trying to come up with a reasonable value so that I can purchase it. Its a 1965 no doors, 3 speed on the tree with just 3k miles. It was owned by a fire department and really never used. It has mostly been stored indoors but judging from the paint fade I would say some of that time was outside storage. No rust. Does not run because it sat for so long and I suspect the seals and such will warrant a full motor rebuild.

The van has the two original gurneys as part of it being a rescue vehicle.

I don't know more than that so please let me know what you think it is worth based on the limited information.

    Thanks................Rob Very Happy

Stick a battery in it and see if the motor at least turns over. If you're not in a rush, a little better idea of what you would be up against would help determine a value. It looks straight and it's all there. Check the front floor boards for rust. Take some more pics.

If it makes any difference to you the van appears to be a '66. '65 didn't have backup lights.

Backup lights & door badges = 1966. Thats a nice van! I would say it's worth $8k especially with 3000 miles on it. I bet you could get it running if you could turn the motor over by hand . My van sat for 27 years in the woods and i got it running.

Hmmm, we hear these outrageous low miles claims every now and then. I have a hard time believing 3000 miles on something that looks the way that van does. Add to it the fact it doesn't run with hints that it needs an engine rebuild and you have a very tough sell at any price.

Cool Nodoor, good luck getting your new project. I would check the inside of roof close to where the lights are, if it leaked there, probably going to be Rust hidding ,and a pain to fix it in that area. Post some more pics if you can.

I've seen that mentioned before about the backup lights not being on a '65....my '65 has backup lights. Cutouts and wiring look OEM. Van Crazy was over here checking it out when I was thinking of selling, and he said the same thing, that '65 don't have BU lights.

The VIN plate in the door frame indicates '65, and he popped under the back to looked at the VIN there, and it matched door tag also indicating '65.

Is the rear VIN under there engraved somewhere? I've never noticed it.

I would have to agree with that statement.

I think it's supposed to be stamped in one of the frame cross members in front or behind the gas tank. Maybe someone else will chime in with the exact location.

My 65 doesn't have backup lights but it's very possible that yours is a late enough 65 that they put the backup lights on it.

Doors,  emblems and back up lights could be changed or added,,,,,,,see what the J number is on the vent glass,,,,see what the build date is on the blower motor,,,,see if the VIN number on the crossmember where the fuel hose goes through to the gas tank is the same as the door plate,,,,,5P is 1965,,,,,,,6P is 1966,,,,,,,
