Whats my Econoline worth? Empty Whats my Econoline worth?

    Post by zach_1950 Mon Oct 13, 2014 5:16 pm

As a new father of two beautiful twin girls my apartment has become cramped and over run with baby stuffs. So I need me a house but first I need a down payment.

What do you think my pickup is worth? Its the white three window in the picture. Its a 1962 with a 144, 3 on the tree. I don't know if it runs it was parked for along time. very little rust. The truck is complete, everything is there just needs to be restored.

So give it to me straight Doc, what could I get for her?

Truck is currently located in Ga if your interested.

The fact that it's 4 window and a '62 and a 144 hurts you. Add to that, you're not sure if it runs and I have to agree $1500 tops from what we can see. Looks like some rust, got kissed in the nose. You'll be way ahead to spend a little time and get it running descent. May not take much if it was parked running. Worth at least another $250-500. It'd be alot easier to assess with better pictures, but you know how rotten it is or isn't. More rotten = parts truck $1K tops, esp not running.

I have to agree with the others. Running or not running makes a huge difference. Running, the truck could be worth twice as much. Not running, it almost has to be considered a parts truck. I paid $2500 for my 61 5 window--the truck was not running, but it had a good 200 engine, syncronized tranny, 9" rear end, and most of all, no rust or body damage. I also bought a 65 Spring Special from the same guy with a 351/auto. 5 window, 9" rear, some rust, for $500----a good parts truck---although not running. Running, your probably somewhere between $1500 to $2500. Not running---your probably below 1K.
    Good Luck Mike

On ebay $1000 to $1500, if you have a tailgate maybe more. It really depends on how much rust and where. Original seats and unmolested dash a plus.

I have to agree with the others.  Not running, a buyer must assume the worst, so... Unless you want to nearly give it away, do whatever you have to in order to get it running before you sell it.

#2 most important is body condition.  Rust and dents?  some are to be expected, but you should give a buyer pictures to show the body condition and don't try and hide the bad areas. If you are just honest and show the truck as is, someone will fall in love with it because its such a classic cute body style.

Taking lots of good pictures is key for trying to sell your truck.  No reason to even bother listing it for sale if you don't have plenty of good high resolution pics to show potential buyers.

Thanks, I've sold cars before so I'm not new to that. I just wanted to get a general idea of what I could sell it for.

I'm not an econoline expert, but your truck looks pretty rough with plenty of rust going on.  A general idea of what you could sell for?  Well, what did you pay for this?

As others have said, it would be worth much more if it was running, then clean it up, put some seats in it, fix other little stuff and put some cool mags on it.  But if you are unwilling to lift a finger to put any effort into making it run, then you'll likely need to price it low enough to make it appeal to someone who wants a non-running project with no seats, no door panels, wasted windshield, bent up bumpers, no mirrors, not running, so unknown mechanical condition of everything, unknown condition of brakes, suspension, trans, rear axle, wiring etc.  I have bought non-running vans for anywhere between $400-600.  Most people won't pay much more than that for something in this condition.

That rust up front in the nose, the windshield frame, and the roof drip rails all look kind of scary to me.  Hard to determine how bad it is from these photos.
