Anyone have one for sale? Will tailgates from other Ford pickups fit? Thanks in advance.

Re: E Pup tailgate??
Our Econoline tailgates were unique to our vehicles, and they were designed from the factory to rust out. Good luck finding one. It's like the Holy Grail around here, but they do turn up for sale every now and then.

Re: E Pup tailgate??
That's to much for less than perfection, but price is relative... they do come up cheaper, it's just how much they need. That one has some needs to, maybe not so many as some but still as many as some for cheaper. These tailgates have gotten so out of hand, I think it's cheaper to buy the truck sometimes, that has one, than find a descent ones after the fact.

Re: E Pup tailgate??
yeah man, totally. Mine sags and sticks out on driver side. Where the hinge pin meets the tailgate is all blown out. I thought paint shop would be able to fix it but they said once they stripped paint, there was just too much bondo. I have another friend who's a master welder and does killer body work. I might be able to get him to work his magic.

Tailgates
I had a e pickup about 20 years ago and needed a gate. A local yard when they where junk yards had 8 NOS ones . I only needed 1 but they would only sell them as a set .So I paid the ridiculous price of $300.00 for all. The kicker was they where being used as doors in some out buildings .They where on the ground blocking the entrance for the animals he had in the yard.
Placed a add in Hemming for the high price of $200.00 each. Even then they sold like ice water in hell. I was still getting calls almost a year later. Sold them all in a month. Guess I should had kept a few.

jwristen, I sent you a PM. If you'd like me to post the pics for you, just email them to me at the address I sent you and I'd be happy to post them here. I'm sure others would like to see what you came up with.

Re: E Pup tailgate??
I tried a few times to get the breaks I wanted on a friend's break. I couldn't quite get it perfect... I made a cad file for a local shop and they did the inside skin in 16 gauge, and the outer skin in 18 gauge. You can see by the pics how I assembled it. I wanted it to be functional like a normal tailgate. I also felt like the stock tailgates didn't fit the sleek smooth lines of the rest of the truck, so my thought was maintaining a "what they shouldve done", kind of stock look with the bar extending along the bottom like the original. I could've easily hid it, or not done it at all but I plan to make some custom hinges on the cnc machine to house the female hinge end, similar to the stock ones that will bolt on. If you have any other questions let me know. I'll post some pics when I hang it. Thanks for your help. --Jimmy

Re: E Pup tailgate??
Whoa! That is a nice tailgate now.
I'm in the process of redoing my 64. Have a decent tailgate that I smoothed out over the outside with sheetmetal but the more I look at it the more I'm just not happy with the lower hinge rod and support brackets. I've been rethinking the thing over and over and think I may go with hidden strap hinges.

Re: E Pup tailgate??
Yeah I battled that same issue. I could've probably embeddedb them inside the gate, and then cut into the pillars but I wanted a stock look. Also, that extra support on the bottom will make it stronger and can be stepped on without bowing. I settled on that design as it kept the stock look, kinda, and gave it the function I was looking for.

Re: E Pup tailgate??
Wow, that's a NICE Find Rick! I'm tempted to buy it and I don't even own an EPup! Somebody should jump on this one...not a bad price for one in that kind of shape!

Re: E Pup tailgate??
Vanny, I was tempted also. But my tailgate is still in ex. shape so I really don't need it. I have so many other projects going on, I should just put the cash into those. Probably wished I bought it after it's sold. Maybe if I was closer. I am surprised it not already sold, they don't come along everyday, and I think it's a good price for the condition. Peeps always looking for them, well here's one.
