Re: What are you??? Stock or Hot Rod
Well I won't make mine bone stock. It won't be of a hot rod catagory.
If I had to put it in a catagory,Modified.Stock motor and trans.Updated brake system.Set of custom wheels and paint.
So yeah, modified or like kakster said...justa cruiser.

Re: What are you??? Stock or Hot Rod
Been a hotrodder for years. Cant seem to leave ANYTHING stock. Not sure what I will do with "the vans", I will do a side-by-side and decide which one will get the best parts and will be the daily driver. Might keep the other one or sell it.............time will tell.

I prefer stock rides really. However a resto-custom is always nice too.

Re: What are you??? Stock or Hot Rod
I always lean towards modified.. i discovered its hard to put a old vehicle back to stock condition.. lot of hard to find parts.
and i think no matter what you do it will never truly be stock..
exotically a van.. do you really want to ride around in a empty 50gal drum..
you know your going to customize the interior..

Original equipment sucks, Im leaning toward heavilly modified cruser. Dont get me wrong I love to look at the "every nut and bolt replaced "resto, but I enjoy driveing my toys.

Re: What are you??? Stock or Hot Rod
I prefer the term resto-mod for my taste. I love the mostly stock look but with the modified hot rod theme. I love how my van looks mostly stock in appearance but has the V-8, headers, and 4 barrel hot rod type performance. If only I had the budget I'd drop in a 383 stroker motor and.......

Re: What are you??? Stock or Hot Rod
for me stock appearance with any change to a retro before the van was made look - a steel wheel with some sort of 50s ish hubcap - a cool old steering wheel with horn bar - seats with two tone pleat/tuck roll - mechanical more modern - engine with fuel injection and ac - update brakes -so whatever that makes it - i wouldnt call it stock or hot rod - hot stock? retro rod? - now i just need that budget - oo3

Re: What are you??? Stock or Hot Rod
Well I defiantly like stock but only in a vintage value sort of a way. I'm more at the Hot-Rod end of the scale but won't ever get carried away to the point of making anything look stupid. When it comes to vans. I like the exteriors to look good and the interiors, well.... Pretty much anything goes...
My main thing is to be unique. Don't want to show up and see half a dozen other identical vans just different colors and wheels..... You got to make it your own.

I agree with Dan...Be unique and different. So I'm hotrod all the way. I have no interest in keeping her stock although I did have a hard time cutting up a perfect roof to put in a 42" sunroof.

I agree with you as well. I've had my new sunroof and port-hole windows in the boxes since last Oct. and everytime I think about cutting into her I get that funny "this is wrong" feeling. Maybe because it's wrong or just because winter was just starting. All I know is it's spring now and I'm getting the itch.... The new paint itch and know the windows have to be cut first!!!!

Re: What are you??? Stock or Hot Rod
I was going to fix the /6 for the pickup, but now it's a 318 swap from the parts van and saving for a 408 stroker from summit. Just gotta have that V8 ROAR!!

Re: What are you??? Stock or Hot Rod
I know... There's something about the sound of a V8 that gives you the warm feeling.... or maybe that just the exhaust!
