66 e-100 shifting gates

My 66 E-100 will not shift into 2nd or 3rd. https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_cry.gif I know the linkage is ok, the problem is with the shifting gates at the bottom of the steering column.  I was talking with one of the other members a couple of weeks ago and it was suggested I find a column from a E-100 automatic and use it.  It was said it had all the same parts but of course they are not all used.  If this is so, does any one have a column from an automatic or one from a three speed.  Short of replacing the column can repairs be made to the existing column and how does one go about doing so?
I have it ready to go to the welding shop for frame work but I only have 1st and reverse.
