Front Brake Hoses Empty Front Brake Hoses

Post by Vantucky Sun May 17, 2015 8:22 am

Has anyone figured out a replacement for the Rubber front brake hoses?
    I have a 1969 A108 with 318 automatic.

I feel stupid, but no one lists a replacement. Sad

The rear hose is only .5" longer and would seem to fit just fine.
Its that or I see Centric part #150.63000 listed for 67 vans, maybe different?

    any opinions, ideas, or advice?

    Yeah, Thats my question really,

The rear hose 16" and the fronts that came with my van were 14.75 or so, my guess is that it should fit fine? or would that extra length bind when compressed with the wheel turned all the way in?

Epic twinpilot001!!! Thanks for the backup guys, I measured it out and the inch didn't crimp the hose that bad, it could probably be 3 inches shorter and be good. I went for it and ordered 2 more of the rear houses raysbestos 35018. Brake job will be done tomorrow After I get the balls to bend and flare my steel line!

And by the way the drum brake hardware kits I ordered from the auto store would have been only good for the hold down nails and springs. Luckily my van came with some spare anchor springs! Geesh.

we use braided steel lines to replace the rubber ones on our Chevys,,,,,and since one of the 1st things you need to do is get rid of those 50 year old metal ones, we use Napa armored wound metal brake lines,,,,,you dont need a tubing bender to form them and they come in all different sizes,,,,,,this is what we use on a  Chevy ,,,,,

Awe man, That Bendable line looks cool.

I already have the other stuff, that blackish plated steel line. I bought a 25' roll.
With my A108 it has a 90" section that is all steel line, so I decided just to cut and flare and make a perfect fit.

    We'll see how it goes!

I really appreciate the advice and if I start cutting, flaring and bending and I'm not happy, I'll cruise over to Napa auto parts and grab that bendable stuff and the adaptors.

    As always, y'al are awesome!

I just ordered new hoses from Rock Auto for my G van, they seem to stock all years and makes. They listed cheap Dorman's $10.25 or Raybestos around $22 each, my mechanic said you get what you pay for, get the better ones, they also have the Centrics and MPI's depending on the application. They take Paypal and I got a shipping conformation the same day. Cutting and flaring is an art but should be fine!
