gas mileage dropped, HELP! Empty gas mileage dropped, HELP!

    Post by ramian09 Thu Jul 24, 2014 10:25 am

Does anyone know if installing a cold air intake on these vans actually hinder instead of help gas mileage? also does anyone know the best adjustments for a Carter YF for these vans? I installed a cold air intake purchased from classic inlines. I ran the pipe up to the grill. I was expecting an improvement in performance and gas mileage, but instead I seem to be experiencing a significant drop in fuel mileage. What could be going on? Any help is much appreciated!!

I would remove some of that cold intake and see if mileage improves,,,,,,now them there Carters, have vacuum operated accelerator pumps, and if the rubber diaphragm gets a hole in it, the engine sucks gas right from the carburetor bowl.......

That's a good point. The pump is in the bottom of the bowl isn't it?
