both my downflow rads for my straight six 250 are shot. core replacements are crazy? high nowdays and new aluminum rads seem better and cheaper. anyone have exact dimensions on the biggest universal aluminum radiator replacement i can find for this? which outfit is the best for new replacement rads, whitney, jegs, summit? also, once i get the universal rad how do i mount it? are there mounting kits available for my downflow set up or am i gonna' have to have some welding done? thanks for the help folks!

Re: more radiator HELP!
Not that this is one for ur van - look @ what this guy sells!! he has many & if u email or call them -they may even match something for u ?? The mounts can be made easily enough-saddle lower mounts & i believe some places offer some mounts also -just i cant remember who? Some square tube & some pieces of channel welded for mounts will work easily enough. The radiator shops usually want to make big retail bucks on everyone - yet there are some shops in small towns that will serve you better on prices also . My experiences on that . The older chrysler trucks & cars had a side mount radiator - was same as chev on where hoses went - had in every thing in 70'2 up to 440 cube engines in those cars .Happy Vannin!!

My buddy is going to put this aluminum downflow radiator in his van....it has tabs on the side,,,,,some L brackets or angle iron will let you bolt it up pretty easily.....

Re: more radiator HELP!
Hey Neal, did you put that in your Chevy? I just picked up a 67 G10, but it has no rad in it at all to measure from. Will this fit properly, and will it be enough to cool my 283?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: more radiator HELP!
Yes, I put it in my GMC. It's a little shorter than the original but but otherwise is fine in mine. You will just have to drill 4 new holes in the side plates (that currently have 3 holes) to mount to the factory holes. I also used 3 1/2" long bolts to get the spacing from the fan correct. It may be overkill if you are gonna keep an L6, but I intend to put a SB V8 in mine...someday.

Re: more radiator HELP!
Thanks for the tips, and yeah, mine is the SBC 283 V8, so the more cooling the better. I'm picking up a freshly machined block with .030 over bore and gonna hop it up a bit.
If you ever have your cover off, are you able to get a pic of yours installed for me?
Thanks again.

Thanks Neal!!!!! You are the man! That will help me tonnes! Looks like it was meant to fit in there. I see now how you did the bolt spacers. Brilliant.
