    Thermostats: 160 or 180? Empty Thermostats: 160 or 180?

Ive read some debates about this on mustang forums, but I wanted to hear about it from econoline people who have first hand knowledge of how hard it is to keep these things at a good temperature. I recently installed a 180 after running a 160 just to see a difference for myself, and as soon as I get my gauges wired up I will have an opinion. What do you guys think?

modern engines run even hotter. It's so the components fit tighter and for emissions.
If your cooling system is really good enough to be able to adjust the running temps with a thermostat, I'd say go with the warmer one.
If you are like most and just hope that the thing stays out of the red zone, run the cooler one. It will only change the opening temp. It will not let it run cooler on a hot day pulling a hill with a full load.

I'm running a 180 with no issues in mine but I also replaced my mechanical fan with an electric one. I have found it's the stop and go that heats these vans up, once you're cruising they seem fine. In fact on the expressway this time of year my electric fan hardly runs. I agree with Handi, you won't get much heat with a 160 in there.
